This is my preparation of the KINGDRED PROJECT.
This project is about “Family Tree” , so the first assignment I have to do is to have a interview of my family!
First , I need to figure out what I should do.
1.Whom I’m going to interview:
My grandmother.
2.Why I want to interview him/her:
Because she live in Taipei. It will be more convenient to interview her than others.
3.Where and when the interview is going to take place:
I will interview my grandma in the sofa in my house . I think I should be thankful to my grandma’s help, so I will construct a comfortably atmosphere to have this interview.
Because my grandma is in Shu-Lin with my uncle now, so I think the interview will take place when next time she come back from Shu-Lin.
4.What I should prepare for the interview:
I will have a recorder in case of omit. I think it would be more comfortable and considerate to prepare a kettle of hot tea and biscuit!
5.What (questions) I would ask my interviewee:
- What is your full name? Why did your parents select this name for you? Did you have a nickname?
- When and where were you born?
- What is your earliest childhood memory?
- What kind of games did you play growing up?
- What was your favorite toy and why?
- What was your favorite thing to do for fun (movies, beach, etc.)?
- Did you receive an allowance? How much? Did you save your money or spend it?
- What was school like for you as a child? What were your best and worst subjects? Where did you attend grade school? High school? College?
- Do you remember any fads from your youth? Popular hairstyles? Clothes?
- Who were your childhood heroes?
- What world events had the most impact on you while you were growing up? Did any of them personally affect your family?
- How is the world today different from what it was like when you were a child?
- Of all the things you learned from your parents, which do you feel was the most valuable?
- Why did you choose your children’s names?
- What was your proudest moment as a parent?
- When and how did you meet your spouse? What did you do on dates?
- What was it like when you proposed (or were proposed to)? Where and when did it happen? How did you feel?
- Where and when did you get married?
- What memory stands out the most from your wedding day?
- How would you describe your spouse? What do (did) you admire most about them?
Well, I hope I will do well in this project!

Wow,
Jami, I think you come up with some very good questions. I believe it will take you a lot of time to organize all the answers from your grandmother. Since you feel a bit pressured about time issue, I suggest you choose 10 questions that can reflect the central topic you want to talk about when you write a story about your gramma. I’m really excited about what you are going to share with us. Thanks for the efforts.
